The "Association of sewage and sewage treatment plant for the Municipalities of Georgioupolis-Krionerida-Lappeon" was formed under the No. 13649/00 decision of the General Secretary of the Region of Crete published in Government's Gazette issue 84B/2000.
The Association has inter-prefectural and inter-municipal nature, as it includes three neighboring Municipalities, Municipalities of Georgioupolis and Krionerida of Chania Prefecture and the Municipality of Lappeon of Rethymno Prefecture.
The objectives of the Association is to implement the project on sanitation with the construction of sewage collection system and treatment plant that shall serve the 3 municipalities, protecting that way the environmental quality in the Almyros Bay.
The Association is governed by a 5 member Board:
- Marikakis Ferdinandos, Mayor of Georgioupolis and Chairman of Council
- Rodousaki Angeliki, City Councilor of Georgioupolis,
- Loukogeorgakis Eustathios, Mayor of Lappeon,
- Leledakis Emmanuel, City Councilor of Lappeon,
- Markakis Grigorios, Mayor of Krionerida.
